How Decision-Making is Connected to Your Self-Worth
Welcome back to the Simple Human Design blog! I’m Charlie, and today we’re exploring the profound connection between self-worth and the decisions we make daily. Decision-making might seem like a straightforward process, but the choices we make—whether they’re big or small—can have a significant impact on how we perceive our value. And when we align our decision-making with our Human Design, we open the door to greater self-worth and a life of ease and flow.

The Importance of making correct Micro-Decisions daily
Every day, we make countless micro-decisions. These choices might seem trivial—what to eat, when to work, whether to exercise—but they accumulate and shape our lives. When we make decisions that align with our true selves, we create a life that flows effortlessly. However, when our decisions are out of sync with who we are at our core, we experience resistance, frustration, and a sense of being trapped in our own bodies.
This is where the Human Design system comes in. Human Design offers a unique approach to decision-making through what is known as "authority." Authority is your personal decision-making process, the inner compass that guides you toward the choices that are truly right for you.
Understanding Your Authority in Human Design
When you first delve into Human Design, you learn about your type (such as Projector, Reflector, etc.), your strategy, and your authority. While your Human Design chart is filled with valuable information, experts often advise focusing on your strategy and authority above all else. Why? Because these are the tools that will help you make decisions aligned with your true nature.
Authority is where the magic happens—it’s the intersection of science and spirituality within Human Design. It’s not about making decisions with your logical, ego-driven mind, but rather tuning into the intelligence of your body. This intelligence knows what’s best for you, even when your mind might be swayed by societal expectations or the need to please others.
The Ego Mind vs. the Body’s Wisdom
In our society, we’re often conditioned to make decisions based on logic, strategy, or the desire to please others. We say yes to opportunities, social engagements, or business ventures because it seems like the “right” thing to do, or because we don’t want to disappoint anyone. However, this approach can lead to burnout, frustration, and a feeling of disconnect from our true selves.
Human Design teaches us to listen to our bodies rather than our ego minds. Your authority is the most intelligent part of you—it’s the aspect of yourself that knows what you need, when you need it. For instance, you might have an emotional authority, where it’s best to wait out your emotional wave before making a decision, or a sacral authority, which responds immediately to what is right for you in the moment.
How Authority Influences Self-Worth
When you start making decisions based on your Human Design authority, you align with your true self, which in turn boosts your self-worth. Imagine making choices every day that feel right on a deep, intuitive level. Over time, these aligned decisions build confidence and self-assurance. You start to trust yourself more, recognizing that you have the wisdom within you to make the best choices for your life.
It’s important to note that nobody gets it right the first time. Learning to trust your authority is a process. But by reflecting on past decisions—both the ones that worked out and the ones that didn’t—you can begin to see patterns. You’ll notice that the decisions made from a place of true alignment brought you success, satisfaction, and peace. On the other hand, decisions made from a place of fear, logic, or external pressure may have led to frustration or disappointment.
Practical Steps to Align Your Decisions with Your Self-Worth
Identify Your Authority: The first step is to understand your authority within the Human Design system. Whether it’s emotional, sacral, splenic, or another form, knowing your authority is key to making aligned decisions.
Reflect on Past Decisions: Look back at previous choices and assess whether they were made using your authority or if they were driven by external factors. What were the outcomes? How did you feel afterward?
Practise Conscious Decision-Making: Start making decisions with a heightened awareness of your authority. Whether it’s a small daily choice or a major life decision, pause and tune into what your body is telling you. This practice will strengthen your connection to your authority over time.
Embrace Mistakes as Learning Opportunities: Remember, it’s okay to make mistakes. Each decision, whether aligned or not, offers valuable insights that help you grow and refine your decision-making process.
Aligning Decisions with Self-Worth
When you use your authority to make decisions, you align with your true self, which naturally enhances your self-worth. As you become more attuned to your body’s wisdom, you’ll find that life becomes easier, more satisfying, and more successful. You’ll begin to see your worth not just in the outcomes of your decisions, but in the very act of honouring your true self through those decisions.
